This is Benji he's the seal point at the rear and he's 2-3 years old. Sam is the ginger and white one at the front and we got him for Xmas last year so he's about 14 months old. They are both full blood Persians purchased from a breeder.
If you are thinking of purchasing a cat you can't go wrong with a Persian - I have had three now - Charlie died aged 4 years old from complications from a tick twelve months before his death.
Persians have a very placid temperament and they are great with children. None of my cats have ever bitten or scratched anyone even when my daughter carts them around in her dolls pram.
Both my boys are permanently inside - they have never been aloud outside. This is for a few reasons. Persians like any animals are very suseptable to getting ticks and the poision effects them greatly. So that is the main reason I don't let them outside. The second is fleas - I don't have to worry about fleas as they don't go outside to bring them in on their coats. Also when a cat is outside alot of their natural instincts return and they become very independant in nature and not so attached to the people they live with as they are off over the fences chasing and playing with other animals. That doesn't happen inside. My cats have each other to play with and they are the best of buds and love each other and even though they are both desexed males they groom and love each other - it's very sweet I'm sure that Benji thinks he's Sams dad! As from the very first day we brought Sam home after about 2 hours when Benji realised Sam wasn't going to hurt him and he came out of his hiding place, they have loved each other since. On a hot day I even leave the air conditioning on for them - as because of their long coats they do feel the heat.
You can get short hair persians as well as long hair. If you don't like grooming your cats regularly and you hate cat hair on your clothing and furniture then I would recommend you get a short haired one. As they do shed alot of hair and it does knot easily especially at the changing of a season when they are loosing their winter coat.
